Research on HIV infection progresses rapidly and gives room for hope. At this moment the possibility of eradicating the virus or discovering an effective vaccine are the two main strategic lines in the fight against the disease and our centres are among the most advanced in the world in this research.

The yearly conference on Hot topics in HIV – Vaccines, immune recovery and eradication responds to the need of providing an update on these issues, which have a direct impact on the current treatment strategies: importance of early diagnosis, suitability of the early start of treatment, identification of patients newly infected with higher likelihood of benefiting from curative treatments.

Since 2009 the Fight AIDS Foundation (Fundació Lluita contra la SIDA) in collaboration with IrsiCaixa, organizes this one-day conference where prominent experts present the latest updates on how and when current and new drugs can be used; reactivation of reservoirs; immunotherapies; and genetic and cellular therapies. Debates involving basic researchers, clinicians and advocates are organized around the discussion topics to promote lively interactions and encompass the different viewpoints.
