Tamzin Cuming is a colorectal surgeon by training, and began in high-resolution anoscopy (HRA) training in 2013 on becoming a consultant at Homerton University Hospital in London. She was trained by the European expert Dr. Mayura Nathan, an HIV physician who began the UK's biggest centre for the diagnosis and treatment of anal neoplasia at Homerton (Homerton Anogenital Neoplasia Service, HANS).
Tamzin trained at the University of Cambridge and completed her medical degree at Guy's and St Thomas's Hospital in London. She underwent the national training for surgeons and a fellowship in laparoscopic surgery, with a specialism of colorectal surgery, being accepted on to the specialist register in 2010. She has a Masters in Surgical Education and is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons (FRCS) of England has passed the General Surgery FRCS exam in 2010.
In 2018 on Dr. Nathan's retirement, Tamzin took over the running of the HANS service. She is the current Treasurer of the International Anal Neoplasia Society.
